For actual construction, you could use plexiglass, or actual glass. Making it out of actual glass is a lot less scary than it sounds, and would have that beveled look his monocle has in that version.
With either material you choose, you’re going to have to sand down the edges so they’re not sharp. I’d also coat the edges in some sort of protectant, like mod podge or something similar to prevent mishaps.
For wearing, practice beforehand to get over the discomfort. This page explains how to properly wear a monocle. You could also hit the edges that make contact with your skin with some spirit glue for some extra support, so you don’t accidentally drop and break it.
I just. NO.
Are you seriously suggesting that someone put GLASS OVER THEIR EYE?
That is the most fucking stupid shit I have ever heard.
There’s also the fact that the bottle isn’t worn like a monocle is, it is in fact, jammed into his face, which results in the best way to actually recreate the monocle is to cast a bottle in some resin, and sculpt around it to make a prosthetic which you can then mould and cast in silicone or latex or foam latex or gelatine.
Seriously, you’re suggesting someone put cut glass near their eye?
You guys are beyond fucking stupid.
